Cash prize offered for best photo of a Devon Market Town

The Devon Towns Forum is offering a cash prize of £100 for the best photograph of a Devon Market Town. The winning photograph will be displayed on the Home Page of the Devon Towns Forum Website. Forum Chairman Tom Langdon Davies said ‘We are looking for the best image of a Devon Market Town, something that stands out and celebrates all that is special about the town'. Guardian Awards Recognition for Two South West Initiatives

On 25th November 2008 the Guardian announced the winners of its Public Services Awards. Two South West organisations, Penwith Older People's Forum and Teignbridge District Council, achieved great recognition of their work by being runners-up in two categories. Creating Excellence Director wins top national award for innovation

Hartcliffe and Withywood Community Partnership's Chief Executive Stephen Hewitt wins national planning regeneration award for @symes community building. Launch of Local Action for Rural Communities (South West)

The South West Regional Development Agency has announced the launch of a £28 million initiative (Local Actions) to help rural communities in South West England make lasting improvements to the life and economy of their areas. Empowering Communities

Earlier this week Hazel Blears announced the launch of the National Empowerment Partnership and we can now announce the South West's part of this will be called ‘Empowering Communities', this is the name of the consortium led by Creating Excellence that will be taking forward the initiative to improve the empowerment and engagement of communities. South West Market Town Awards 2006 Launched

The South West Market Town Awards Scheme for 2006 was launched on 27 March. The scheme is being administered by the Market and Coastal Towns Association (MCTA). The Awards will celebrate excellent work being undertaken in market towns by recognising sustainable and innovative projects which are regenerating local communities. 'Just Rewards campaign' launched

The 'Just Rewards campaign' has been launched to get a better deal for South West's unpaid heroes. New Start magazine is campaigning for a fair deal for community representatives who work tirelessly to make government regeneration schemes successful.
